Kennels, toys and accessories

Hamster cages must have good fences to prevent Hamsters from escaping and to prevent other animals from harming them. Types of cage materials you can refer to include: iron cages, plastic cages, mica glass cages. Use a combination of bedding made from wood mulch or shredded paper to ensure hygiene and prevent hidden bacteria that cause disease in Hamsters. Hamsters are hyperactive and mischievous creatures, so if they are not exercised, their health will significantly decline, both mentally and physically. Therefore, you need to add toys or accessories so they can climb, run and jump freely in the cage without getting bored. Popular toys and accessories for Hamsters include: movement toys (wheels, exercise balls,…), jaw training toys, wooden bridges, mazes,…

Food

Hamsters are omnivores that live in the wild, so their main food is flies, mosquitoes, and insects. However, over time this species of rat was domesticated. Therefore, Hamster’s food can be nuts, vegetables, sunflowers, peanuts, cashew nuts, even cakes, salty cakes,…

Toilet

Hamsters have a natural instinct to clean their own fur. Normally, farmers will prepare specialized sand for rats to bathe them. When putting rats inside this space, they only need to roll around a few times for the dirt to fall out of their bodies. Only when Hamsters are dirty with toxic substances that are difficult to remove or objects that are difficult to clean stick to their fur, should water be used to bathe them.

Hamster training

Training hamsters to obey when called is not too difficult but requires a lot of love and patience. When starting to train hamsters, first put just a little food in their bowl, choosing when they are awake and feeling hungry to get the best results.

Common diseases

Because of their tiny appearance, hamsters’ bodies are very sensitive, weak and susceptible to many diseases. Just like the human body or other pets, sometimes these rats can also get sick with common diseases such as diarrhea, constipation, colds, heat stroke, swollen eyes,…

Notes when raising hamsters

Hamsters are quite easy to reproduce, so if you put males and females in the same cage, you will soon notice signs of pregnancy in female hamsters. Therefore, avoid leaving male and female mice in the same cage if you do not want the female mouse to become pregnant. When raising hamsters, you should care for them with a healthy, balanced diet. Never feed your Hamster large amounts of fruit or pieces of onion as these foods are acidic and can cause difficulty in your Hamster’s digestion. Just like human residences, hamsters’ homes also need to be kept clean so they can grow healthy and happy. Clean your hamster’s cage once a week, leaving only a small amount of old bedding so the hamster will recognize a familiar scent after the cage is cleaned.
